A SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition) system provides Info-Scan with universal functions such as
telemetry, database management, and the man-machine interface. Almost
every parameter and database element is programmable, including
adding/deleting devices and points, alarm and display formats,
contention resolution rules, quality coding, and the master menu.
Open Architecture
Info-Scan makes use of various industry
standards both in hardware and software to maximize the customers'
return on their investment. They are in a sense, the heart of the
system empowering the customer to build on a solid foundation without
the fear of running into costly obsolescence. Some of the standards
used in Info-Scan 2000 are as follows:
- MICROSOFT WINDOWS™ WORKSTATION OPERATING SYSTEM
The Info-Scan 2000 workstations utilize a Microsoft Windows NT 32-bit
operating system. The Workstation applications are interfaced through
the operating system to the database. All applications use the standard
Windows API for a common look and feel to other Windows applications.
- LAN (LOCAL AREA NETWORK)
The Info-Scan 2000 system LAN is based on the IEEE 802.3/Ethernet
compatible standard and is rated at 10 Mbits/sec. Higher speeds are
also supported with fast Ethernet adapters. The system can be
configured with multiple LANs for redundancy and increased
availability.
